The Literature Club of Norman Putsure College held its first Author Meet and Greet event with Elongshila Jamir, the author of ‘Serendipity’ on 17th April 2023.
The author gave an in depth detail of her book ‘Serendipity’ and what each collection meant to her. She mentioned that she began writing at an early age, she believes that young people are “excruciatingly honest and vulnerable and unfiltered with words”. She also hoped that this book would be another’s inspiration to start “their own journey of serendipity”.
The author also read two of her poems from “Serendipity” and the poems “Sadness in People” as well as “ Midnights are about” from her upcoming book. Being a student herself, she also expounded about how she juggles between her studies and writing.
The event was hosted by Miss Kevisekhono Whiso, followed by Poetry reading by Miss Velü D Vadeo, Reading by the author and Question and Answer Session. The event concluded with Vote of thanks by Therihmong and Book Signing.
The main objective of the event was to give the students an insight knowledge of the process of writing and publishing a book and to encourage the students to shy away from their apprehension and to start writing with gusto and determination.
