ABOUT ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

The Department of English started functioning at the inception of Norman Putsure College. In addition to two regular faculty members, the department features international guest faculty. The department offers undergraduate honours and pass courses under the choice-based credit system. The department aims at the holistic development of the students by providing them with adequate opportunities, training, career guidance, and counseling. The department envisages familiarizing students with contemporary literary trends through pursuits including extempore, debate, group discussion, quizzes, seminars, and workshops.

To instill in students a reverence and attachment to the aesthetics and intellectual aspects of literature.

ABOUT POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Political Science offers B.A. Honors in Political Science, as well as GE and SEC courses, to students of other departments in the college. It offers you a uniquely stimulating environment where the faculty takes keen interest in enhancing the academic caliber and strengthening the knowledge base of the students in all fields of political science, including international relations, political theory, political thought, Indian polity, public administration, and others.

ABOUT SOCIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

Aims and objectives:

The department of sociology at Norman Putsure College is committed to teaching students how to do sociology and how to think sociologically about the world.

The curriculum of sociology gives students insight into sociology as a scientific discipline, aiding in their intellectual growth and providing opportunities to engage in and make contributions to the community’s wellbeing.

The department also aims to give students the opportunity and encouragement to develop an attitude to understand and expand awareness of the human social relationships, cultures, and institutions that profoundly shape human lives and human history. To critically examine social issues and social phenomena, address our society’s most pressing problems, and express them effectively.

Mission

The central mission of the department of sociology is to provide quality education through excellence in teaching and learning services, to guide and educate aspiring minds to empower them to discover new knowledge, and to expand personal growth and opportunities relevant to a variety of career paths that incorporate research and writing.

It aims to encourage the students to inculcate creative and critical thinking skills and enrich their knowledge of society, which will help them to be well-informed individuals who can contribute to society effectively.
