INTERN’S TESTIMONY AT HORNBILL TV
Hornbill TV is a 24-hour news television channel headquartered at Pure Entertainment Group in Chümoukedima, Nagaland. They broadcast news in English and Nagamese, a current affairs program, and talk shows.

On the first day of the internship, we were given instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations by the human resources manager. We were divided into groups with assigned tasks attached to different departments’ departments, viz., the Technical Department and the Editorial Department. Initially, I was assigned to the MCR (Master Control Room), which airs the news on the TV channels. I learned how to broadcast the news and give commands to the anchors when the news is airing on TV. Secondly, I was assigned to the PCR (Production Control Room), which plays an important role in live bulletins as its commands are passed to the MCR and INGEST and the anchors as well, working simultaneously. Thirdly, I was assigned to INGEST, where I learned how the news videos are being recorded and saved practically. In addition to social media, I uploaded the news videos edited by the video editors to YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Lastly, but not least, I was assigned to content writing, through which I learned how to write news bulletins. I have learned how to process how news channels work through visual and verbal explanations and practical lessons taught by our mentors in their own respective fields.

The time I spent at Hornbill TV as an intern for one month was a memorable one for me, as it was a rich experience that helped me discover my potential, boosted my confidence, and enhanced my cognitive ability. All the staff were well trained and experienced. Internships with Hornbill TV provide us with new vistas, offer real-world exposure, and help us get a chance to build our networks.
