Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima, warmly welcomed its new batch of students by organizing Freshers’ Day 2026 on 1 August 2026 at 10:00 AM under the captivating theme “Enchanted Bloom.” The event was a vibrant celebration aimed at fostering friendship, showcasing talents, and officially welcoming the freshers into the college community.
The programme commenced with a formal session where the Principal, Dr. Timothy Langwangbe, gave an inspiring address encouraging the newcomers to be fearless, embrace academic excellence, personal growth, and take active participation in campus life.
The formal programme also featured a welcome song by the seniors, a speech by Mr. Mark Kikon representing the seniors and a special musical performance. Representing the incoming students, Ms. Temsunenla Jamir delivered a heartfelt speech expressing gratitude for the warm reception and excitement for the journey ahead.
The celebration continued with an entertaining informal programme hosted by Benjamin Yekato Awomi and Mercy Ao. One of the major attractions of the event was the Mr. & Miss Fresher competition, which included Traditional, Casual, Formal, and Final Rounds, highlighting the confidence, creativity, and personality of the contestants.
The audience was treated to a variety of performances and the event concluded with the declaration of the Mr. & Miss Fresher results marking the successful culmination of a memorable celebration. Ms. S. Tsoiniu Grace Khiam from the Department of Sociology and Mr. Machiting from the Department of Political Science were awarded the title of Mr. and Miss Freshers 2026. Ms. Sharon Apon from the Department of Education and Mr. Moaakum from the Department of Education were declared the 1st Runners Up and Ms. Temsunenla Jamir from the Department of English and Mr. Enithung from the Department of Political Science were adjudged the 2nd Runners Up of the competition. The programme ended on a joyful note with dinner, where students, faculty members, and guests gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new academic journey together.
